SOD LAYING SERVICE
A successful sod installation starts with Clear Cut Group’s Sod Laying Service
Unlike other sod laying companies, Clear Cut Group takes special care in laying down sod.
Clear Cut Group will come in and physically strip out a layer of your sod, bring in triple mix and sod to ensure your sod installation is successful. We will then provide the initial watering and rolling of the lawn to set up your lawn for success.
Expert Sod Laying Technique
Our sod laying service is different than other sod laying companies because Clear Cut Group never lays down sod side-by-side on all four corners.
There are 3 ways to lay sod
We feel we take the harder approach but the best results oriented one
🚫 1st Way
Lay the soil and sod right over the existing area.
🚫 2nd Way
Use a trimmer and just trim all the grass down to dirt and lay a thin layer of soil and sod. Doing it this way you may be changing the elevation/height of the area so you may not be able to match up to an existing lawn, driveway or curb.
✔️ Our Way
Bring in a sod cutter and cut a layer of sod and soil out
Dispose of the old sod and soil and bring in new soil
This brings the height down enough to allow 1 inch of soil and sod to be placed and maintain the existing height of old lawn.
We do it this way even though it’s more work because we’ve found it to work the best. We keep our clients happy by doing the job the right way the first time.
First we’ll flatten out the area and remove things like rocks and other debris that could inhibit or otherwise get in the way of planting sod. We always use a unique pattern when laying down sod. By doing this the sod will accept the soil more naturally.
Our staff will start at the outer edges of where the sod needs to be laid first and then work our way inwards. This is because landscapes have a natural tendency to dry quicker. As we’ll be watering your fresh sod during regular intervals during the laying process it will allow for more water (at regular intervals) to reach the soil. This will result in a much greater chance of success.
Laying sod at the outer part of a landscape also benefits from the fact that not all yards are the same. Strips of sod may have to be cut to fit an area perfectly. This is best done at the end of the sod laying process towards the middle of the yard.
