Why It Matters

Straight Roofline Runs
Built For Rexdale Bungalows

Measured Every Peak

We measure the front eave, the porch column and any dormer before we quote, so every strand matches the run it sits on. On the low, straight rooflines common through Rexdale, a measured line reads clean from the sidewalk instead of sagging between clips.

Cut To Length

Clear Cut Group builds each string from Omni commercial wire and Birddog Lighting LED bulbs, cut to the exact run. No bunching at the corner above a shared driveway, and no bare stretch at the end of a Rexdale semi where two rooflines meet.

Clipped, Never Stapled

Shurtape clips sized to shingles or gutters, Paragon Light and Sound clips for flat and vertical trim. Nothing is stapled or nailed into a Rexdale roof edge. Cords run down the downspout to a timer on a GFCI outlet, tucked clear of the walkway.

What Rexdale Neighbours Say About Their Displays

Good To Know

Low Rooflines, Compact
Lots And Shared Driveways

Most of Rexdale went up as post war housing: single storey bungalows, semis and rows of townhouses on compact lots with the front door close to the sidewalk. Rooflines are low and mostly straight, which helps. One clean line of Christmas lights along the front eave, carried over the peak and down a porch column, reads from the far side of the street. The work in Christmas light installation in Rexdale is on the ground: front yard trees planted tight to the house, shared driveways with a car parked in them, and usually one exterior outlet. We plan ladder positions and cord routes first.

Ladder work on a shared driveway

Shared driveways are normal on Rexdale semis, so we agree on ladder positions before we start. Qualcraft ladder safety equipment gets the feet planted on flat pavement, away from the neighbour’s tire tracks, and we move the setup rather then lean out over a fence line. If a car needs to leave, the crew shifts the ladder and works the next section of eave.

Keeping a low eave line straight

A low roofline hides nothing. If clip spacing drifts, the sag shows from the sidewalk. We measure the eave, cut the Omni commercial wire to that length, then set Shurtape clips at even spacing along the shingle edge or gutter lip so every bulb sits at the same angle. Corners and dormers get their own cut run, which is why there is no bunched cable at the peak.

Front yard trees and shrub lines

Many lots through Kingsview Village and Beaumonde Heights have a front yard tree planted close to the house. We wrap trunks and lower limbs with cut to length strands and edge the shrub line with GE StayBright LED mini lights, which stay lit when one bulb fails. On a compact lot, one wrapped trunk plus a straight eave run fills the frame without crowding the walkway.

One outlet, one timer

Most post war houses near John Garland Boulevard have a single exterior outlet. Clear Cut Group routes cords down the downspout, along the trim and into a timer plugged into a GFCI outlet, with Greenlee fish tape used when a run needs to be concealed. Nothing crosses the walkway or the shared driveway, and the timer means the display comes on at the same hour each evening.

What We Do

What The Crew Does
On Your Rexdale Street

Free estimate and plan

A crew member walks the lot with you, measures eaves, peaks, columns and railings, and writes up a free estimate. You see the plan and the bulb colours before any Rexdale install is booked.

Install in one visit

Most residential installs in Rexdale take four to eight hours. Strands are cut on site with Milwaukee power tools, clipped, routed and tested, then walked with you at dusk before the crew leaves.

Mid season check ins

Wind and ice can knock a clip loose. We come back during the season to reset clips and swap bulbs, whether the house sits on a quiet court or on a busier stretch near Albion Road.

Takedown after the season

Takedown runs in January and February, once ladder work on Rexdale rooflines is safe again. Clips come off the shingles, cords come off the downspouts, and the outlet is left clear.

Labelled storage, no charge

Your custom cut strands are labelled by run, boxed and stored for next year at no extra cost. The same measured lengths go back on the same eaves, so the second season installs faster.

Where We Go

Where Our Rexdale
Crews Work In December

Clear Cut Group runs holiday light installation routes across Rexdale, off Rexdale Boulevard and Islington Avenue, out to Martin Grove Road and Kipling Avenue, and north through Thistletown. Crews group nearby addresses on the same day, so a row of bungalows near Rexdale Park gets measured, clipped and lit in one visit, with the truck parked clear of shared driveways.

From The Crew

How A Rexdale Install
Runs, Start To Finish

Christmas lights installers Rexdale

Christmas light installation in Rexdale starts with a consultation and a free estimate. We walk the lot, measure the the eaves, peaks, dormers, columns and railings, and note the trees and shrub lines you want covered. On the shallow front yards near Pine Point Park, we check the view from the sidewalk before deciding where a run should stop. Bulb colour and spacing are picked at that visit, not on install day.

On install day the strands are cut to the measured runs, clipped to shingles, gutters or trim, and the cords are routed to a timer on a GFCI outlet. We finish with a walkthrough after dark. Houses closer to the Humber River catch more wind, so those clips get a second look mid season. Clear Cut Group takes the lights down in January and February and stores the same strands for next year.

Most Popular Q&A

Rexdale Christmas Light Questions

Will a single roofline run look like enough on a low Rexdale bungalow?

On a bungalow the eave sits close to eye level from the sidewalk, so one clean run carries more than people expect. We usually pair it with a wrapped porch column, a railing run and a lit shrub line, which gives the display depth on a compact lot. If there is a dormer or a small peak, it gets its own cut length so the outline reads as one shape.

How do you handle ladders when my Rexdale semi shares a driveway?

We confirm the ladder plan with you at the estimate and, where it helps, let the neighbour know the date. Feet go on flat pavement with Qualcraft ladder safety equipment, never braced against a fence or a parked car. If someone needs the driveway, the crew moves the ladder and works the next section of eave. Clear Cut Group keeps the shared lane usable through the whole install.

Can you match my half of a semi to the neighbour's side?

We can match bulb colour, spacing and clip height so the two halves read as one roofline from across the street, as long as both owners agree on the look. If your neighbour books with Clear Cut Group as well, we measure both runs together and install on the same day. If not, we still line our run up to the shared peak so the break is not obvious.

My only outdoor outlet is at the side of the house. Does that still work?

Yes. Cords run down a downspout, along the trim and around the corner to the outlet, held tight so nothing swings or crosses a walkway. The timer plugs into a GFCI outlet, and Greenlee fish tape lets us thread a concealed run where a cord would otherwise show against the siding. We test the whole circuit during the final walkthrough before the crew leaves.

Can you wrap the front yard tree as well as the roof?

Tree wraps are part of the same plan. We measure trunk height and limb spread, cut strands for each section and wrap from the base up so the spacing stays even. On the smaller front lots around Beaumonde Heights, one wrapped trunk beside a straight eave run is usually the right balance. Larger trees are quoted by the sections you want covered.

Does wind off the Humber River pull clips loose during the season?

It can move a clip or two on an exposed front eave, which is why mid season check ins are part of every job. Houses on the open stretches near Rowntree Mills Park get a closer look. We reset clips, replace any bulb that has failed and check that the cord run is still tight to the downspout. There is no extra visit to arrange.

Can you light a whole townhouse row so the units line up?

Yes, and it is worth planning power and access before the first ladder goes up. For rows like Scotch Elms Townhomes or Golden Elms Townhomes, we measure each unit, keep clip height and bulb spacing identical across the row, and set the timers together so the block turns on at once. Clear Cut Group does the same work for condo entrances and plaza frontages.
